Opening Ceremony of Seminar on Management for Meteorological Officials from African English-Speaking Countries was Held at NUIST

In the morning of June 13th, Opening Ceremony of Seminar on Management for Meteorological Officials from African English-Speaking Countries was Held in the University. The Deputy Director of the WMO Regional Training Center Nanjing, Professor Wang Suchun, presided over the opening ceremony and the Executive Deputy Director of the Center, Professor Zheng Youfei, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Professor Lei zhaochong, the Deputy Director of the the Center, and the participants who come from Cameroon, Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana, Liberia, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Egypt and Sierra Leone attended the opening ceremony. The training course was organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, and hosted by the Nanjing WMO Regional Training Centre.


Professor Zheng Youfei, the Deputy Director of the Training Center, on behalf of the WMO Nanjing Regional Centre delivered a speech, gave a warm welcome to the participants and appreciated the Ministry of Commerce for its strong support. He introduced the development and the achievements of the internationalization educational of the University and WMO Regional Training Centre Nanjing. Especially in 2012 China Discipline Ranking, The discipline of Atmospheric Science of NUIST ranked NO.1 among Chinese universities, which was authoritatively assessed by the Ministry of Education of China. He stressed that most of the participants are senior officials in meteorological management field and hoping the training can provide an platform for their management and professional knowledge.

Finally, the representative of participants from Cameroon, Mr. ALEXI delivered a speech to appreciate the Ministry of Commerce and the Center which provided comfortable study and communication environment for them. He represented foreign participants appreciate assistance from Chinese government support for Africa countries, especially in the meteorological area.

This training course will last for three weeks. The participants will also have study tour in the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau .
