Inscription by WMO Secretary-General and Director of GEO

After attending the Ceremony on 50th Anniversary of the University and 20th Anniversary of International Training, WMO General-Secretary Jarraud and his wife, GEO Secretary   Jose wrote inscription.
 
WMO General-Secretary Jarraud gave a high apprisal to the contribution made by the University to world meteorological community,especially contribution to education and training of meterologist for developing countries.Mr. Jarraud’s inscription is as follows:
 
This was my 4th visit to Nanjing and to NUIST. Every time I have been most impressed by progress made, by the leadership, by the quality of the teachers and by the motivation of the students. All combined will ensure many more years of success. On behalf of WMO, I wish to express the gratitude of the entire meteorological community to NUIST, CMA and China for this outstanding contribution to WMO programmes in general and to the education and training of so many scientists from developing countries.
On a personal basis I am particularly honoured by the granding of an honourary professorship. I shall endeavour to be worthy of it.
At 50 years old, NUIST has achieved a lot. I am that the next 50 years will be equally bright!

GEO Secretary wrote a beautiful poem to express good wishes to the University.The poem is short but meaningful. It consistes Nanjing’s charming,the friendship between GEO and NUIST and the confidence on the future of NUIST.The poem is as follows:
 
A cool spring early light
The Qinhuai river flowing
Friendship growing
Ensuring the future
Is rooted in knowledge
And tradition
