The University’s Representatives Visit the National Weather Service of the Republic of Kenya and the Regional Training Centre in Nairobi

In the morning of May 24th, the president Li Lianshui and the representatives of NUISTl paid a visit to the National Weather Service of the Republic of Kenya and the WMO Regional Training Centre in Nairobi. Wang Cai-fang , Executive Deputy Director from WMO RTC Nanjing, Wang Su-chun , director of the International Education Institution, Zhang Jian-wei ,director of Binjiang College, Wang Jun, deputy director of the Network Information Centre.
Miss Stella Aura, the secretary of National Weather Service and the director of WMO Regional Training Centre in Nairobi met with the representatives and had a friendly bilateral talk with the representatives. Participants included Mr. Dennis Cheruiyot , assistant director of the National Weather Service of the Republic of Kenya, director of Business Centre and the principals in the WMO Regional Training Centre in Nairobi.
Miss Stella Aura introduced the duties of the weather bureau and the service which contributed to the social economy. She welcomed the representatives’ visit and indicated that her experience of training and communication in China had left her a deep impression. Mr. Dennis Cheruiyot introduced in detail the history of the National Weather Service of the Republic of Kenya and the WMO Regional Training Centre in Nairobi, as well as the duties, the target, the organizations and institutions, the devices, the training courses in 2010 and the training target in the days to come.
President Li Lianshui introduced the University’s personnel training and meteorological research. He indicated his deep impression about the significant contribution the Republic of Kenya Meteorological Service made to its social economy and spoke highly of the excellent training courses the regional training centre provided. And president Li hoped the National Weather Service of the Republic of Kenya and the WMO regional training centre in Nairobi and the University would have more opportunities for communication and mutual learning.
Director Wang Suchun introduced international education of the University, overseas student programs and training. Director Wang Caifang introduced WMO Regional Training Centre and the training plan in 2010.
With the accompany of Secretary Stella Aura, the representatives visited the National Meteorological Centre, the Centre of High-definition Picture Transmission, the Switching Room of Regional Communication, the Studio of Weather Forecast, the Centre of Flooding Diagnosis and Prevention, the Centre of WMO Regional Devices, the Meteorological Training and Research Institution, the Research Institution in Climate Forecast and Appliance.
In the afternoon on 24th, the representatives went to the WMO Regional Training Centre in Nairobi and furthered the communication on mutual management and executive system in the regional training centre as well as the working experience with Director Miss Stella Aura, the principals of each department and other veteran researchers. They also exchanged the information, education and training and the teachers’ communication of mutual training centre and at last reached the initial Cooperation Framework Agreement. Both sides wished a successful cooperation in the future.
