Chairman of Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO Doctor Byong-Lyol Lee visiting the University

Invited by WMO Regional Training Centre Nanjing, Doctor Byong-Lyol Lee (Li Binglie), chairman of Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO and director of South Korea National Agricultural Meteorological Centre, came to Nanjing to give lectures to the Training Course hosted by WMO Nanjing Regional Training Centre from October 24th to 26th. Li Lianshui, Party secretary and president of the University and director of WMO Nanjing Regional Training Centre, met Doctor Byong-Lyol Lee. He showed great thanks to Doctor Byong-Lyol Lee for giving lectures and said that the university will strengthen cooperation with Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO and will be actively involved in related activities.

Doctor Byong-Lyol Lee(Li Binglie) gave a lecture about GIS based climate map and its applications to the participants of the Centre and the work Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO had done which related to global climate change and food security and the use of water resource in some countries of Africa and Southeast Asia. He also hopes that all the participants can not only learn Agricultural Meteorology and research experience, but also attend activities hosted by Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO and contribute to food security and steady of other countries and even the whole world.
 
On October 25th, Doctor Li went to Huaxi Village Jiangyin in accompany with Wang Caifang, Executive Deputy Director of  the Centre. Yuan Qiuzhong, vice mayor of Jiangyin, met Doctor Li. Yuan Qiuzhong introduced the situation of the development in aspect of agriculture and meteorology in Jiangyin, and hope that Jiangyin can strength cooperation with Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO in aspect of Agricultural Meteorology. In Huaxi Village, secretary Wu Renbao met Doctor Li and highly evaluated meteorological work.
 
The aim of Commission for Agricultural Meteorology of WMO is to promote construction of agricultural meteorological station network and standardize agro-meteorological observation, and launch international cooperation of agro-meteorological information, agro-meteorological research and its application and training, and also strength communication and cooperation in agro-meteorological work among different countries. During his visit, Doctor Li had further discussion with WMO Training Centre with memorandum signed between Agro-meteorological Department of South Korea and WMO Nanjing Regional Training Centre last year.
