Seminar on Climate Change and Climate Information Service for Developing Countries was held at NUIST 

On the morning of April 25th, the opening ceremony of “Seminar on Climate Change and Climate Information Service for Developing Countries”, which was sponsored by Department of Commerce and undertook by WMO Nanjing Regional Training Center, was held in our university. Professor Niu Shengjie, Vice President of our university, attended the opening ceremony and made an address. The ceremony was hosted by Professor Lei Zhaochong, Deputy Director of WMO Regional Training Center.

Dr. Niu Shengjie extended warm welcome and sincere greetings to trainees from different countries. He briefly introduced the main content of this training course, and pointed out the whole world faced the huge challenge caused by climate change. It could improve the efficiency of disaster prevention and mitigation to master timely and accurate climate information service. Therefore, climate information service plays a crucial role in the development of national economy.  
Mr. Mocwaledi from South Africa, the representative of participants,delivered a speech. He said that climate change had great effects in Africa, and there were more flood and drought than before. Each participant was interested in the courses of this training course, and they felt excitement to visit Nanjing, a beautiful city.
It is reported that there are 18 participants from 9 different countries. The training course will last to May 15th. Besides, participants will visit Guangxi Meteorology Administration for investigation.
This training course is the 69th international training course held by Nanjing Regional Training Certre.
