Training Course on Climate Change and Climate Information Service for Developing Countries
 
ENROLMENT INFORMATION
 
Training Course on Climate Change and Climate Information Service for Developing Countries will be organized by the WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC) Nanjing, China, and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China.
 
1.       Objectives
Through the training, the participants will have a good understanding of the primary knowledge and have a good command of application of Climate Change and Climate Information Service.
 
2.      Dates and Venue
August 29th  to September 18th , 2012, WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC) Nanjing,China.
 
3.      Course Contents
The Training Course will brief participants with WMO World Climate Programme; Global Framework for Climate Services and climate information services in China; Fundamentals on climatology; Physical science basis of climate change; Climate data and monitoring; Impacts, adaptation and mitigation of climate change; Climate prediction and outlooks; Climate services; Brief introduction to China and Chinese culture. Meteorological practice and study tours are also included.
 
4.      Training Format
Seminars on special topics, practical sessions, discussions, participant’s presentation, etc.
 
5.      Language of Instruction
The course will be conducted in English.
 
6.      Targeted Trainees
Participants in the field of climate change and climate information services and management are invited. (Please refer to Para .8 for countries invited)
 
7Participant’s Qualifications for Admission
Participants are required:
 
1)      to be specialized in meteorology and with a minimum of one year professional experience;
2)      to be in good physical health with no infectious diseases. Physically fit to fulfill all course activities; candidates with limited physical mobility will not be accepted;
3)      to be proficient in English;
4)      not to bring family members to the training seminar in principle;
5)      to observe all the laws, rules and regulations of People’s Republic of China and respect the Chinese customs during the training period.
 
8Application and Admission
The applicants from the invited countries need contact the Economic & Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in the following countries:

Each country 1-2 participants.
