Training Course on Agrometeorology for Developing Countries
 
ENROLMENT INFORMATION
 
Training Course on Agrometeorology for Developing Countries will be organized by the WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC) Nanjing, China, and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China.
 
1.       Objectives
Through the training, the participants will have a good understanding of the primary knowledge and have a good command of application of Agrometeorology.
 
2.      Dates and Venue
May 10-30th , 2012, WMO Regional Training Centre (RTC) Nanjing,China.
 
3.      Course Contents
The Training Course will brief participants with Agrometeorological information services in China, Agrometeorological data and their statistical analysis, Agrometeorological instruments and their observation, Analysis and simulation of crop growing system, Agrometeorological forecasting and service, Applications of remote sensing in agriculture, Agrometeorological damage prevention, Climate change and its impact on Agriculture, Evaluation and use of Agroclimatic resources, Brief introduction to China and Chinese culture. Argometeorological practice and study tours are also included.
 
4.      Training Format
Seminars on special topics, practical sessions, discussions, participant’s presentation, etc.
 
5.      Language of Instruction
The course will be conducted in English.
 
6.      Targeted Trainees
Agrometeorologists and meteorologists in the field of Agrometeorological services and agrometeorological hazards prevention and mitigation are invited. (Please refer to Para .8 for countries invited)
 
 
7Participant’s Qualifications for Admission
Participants are required:
 
1)      to be specialized in Argometeorology and meteorology and with a minimum of one year professional experience;
2)      to be in good physical health with no infectious diseases. Physically fit to fulfill all course activities; candidates with limited physical mobility will not be accepted;
3)      to be proficient in English;
4)      not to bring family members to the training seminar in principle;
5)      to observe all the laws, rules and regulations of People’s Republic of China and respect the Chinese customs during the training period.
 
8Application and Admission
The applicants from the invited countries need contact the Economic & Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in the following countries:
 
Pakistan, DPR Korea, the Philippines, Georgia, Laos, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, Yemen, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, South Africa, South Sudan, Eritrea, Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Uganda, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Grenada, Barbados, Cuba, Guyana, Samoa, Vanuatu .
Each country 1-2 participants.
